Bahrain's Olympic 1,500 metres champion Rashid Ramzi has been officially stripped of his gold medal for doping at last year's Beijing Games.
The International Olympic Committee has ordered Bahrain's Olympic Committee to return Moroccan-born Ramzi's medal and diploma as soon as possible.
Subject to a formal decision by the International Olympic Committee, Kenya's runner up Asbel Kipruto Kiprop now stands to be upgraded to gold, and New Zealand's Nick Willis to the silver medal position.
Ramzi was the only gold medalist among five athletes who were disqualified from the Beijing Games.
