The opening batsman Tim McIntosh has found some encouraging pre-Test form, scoring an unbeaten century for the New Zealand Invitation XI on the final day of their match against Pakistan in Queenstown.
McIntosh scored 131 not out and fellow Test batsman Daniel Flynn made 56, as the New Zealand side reached 231 for two in their second innings when the match was called off.
McIntosh and Flynn have both been named in the 13 -strong New Zealand squad to prepare for the first Test against Pakistan in Dunedin, starting on Tuesday.
The squad also features the return of pace bowlers Darryl Tuffey and Shane Bond.
Tuffey's in line to play his first Test in five years while Bond will undoubtedly be included in the playing XI for what will be his first Test in two years after being involved in the rebel Indian league.
