Doyle inks deal with Phoenix

The Wellington Phoenix have signed the Team Wellington and Miramar defender Tom Doyle on a two-year contract.

The talented 22-year-old impressed while trialling with the A-League football club over the past couple of weeks, including an outstanding performance against West Ham United in his Phoenix debut at Eden Park.

The former trainee Phoenix's Football School of Excellence says he didn't do myself justice back then, when he was released from the FSE, but Doyle says he was determined it wouldn't happen a second time.

So when he came into the Phoenix environment at the start of pre-season, Doyle showed how he had matured by captaining Miramar and being part of the leadership group with Team Wellington.

Doyle says the hard work begins now.

He's dropped his studies for a degree in Graphic Design at Massey University to part-time to concentrate on his football career.
