Silver Ferns beat Jamaica

The New Zealand Netball team put injuries behind them to beat Jamaica 50-42 in their final pool match at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

An outstanding defensive effort from Casey Kopua and Leana de Bruin helped New Zealand come home strongly, their efforts finally taking a toll on the Jamaicans, who led by 1 at half time.

The win kept New Zealand's unbeaten record intact, ensuring they topped Pool A and avoid meeting Australia in the semi-finals.

They now have two days off and will instead meet England in semi-finals on Saturday night while Jamaica will come up against Australia.

New Zealand were again without the services of shooting duo Maria Tutaia and Cathrine Latu, both still recovering from respective foot and calf injuries.

Their replacements Jodi Brown and Ellen Halpenny weathered a torrid patch through the middle stages to take control in the latter stages while Kopua and de Bruin were pivotal throughout.

The rest of the line-up was largely predictable with Liana Leota and Laura Langman pairing at wing attack and centre while Joline Henry, Kopua and de Bruin rounded out the defence line.
