Senior pair set to resume batting struggle on day two in Dunedin

5:51 am on 25 November 2009

The New Zealand cricketers will start the second day of the opening test against Pakistan in Dunedin on a respectable 276 for 6 after being asked to bat first yesterday at University Oval.

The Black Caps recovered from a first-ball dismissal with a century partnership for the third wicket between Martin Guptill with 60 and Ross Taylor who was dismissed for 94, and the day ended with the skipper Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum putting on an unbroken stand of 65 for the 7th wicket.

Vettori escaped a first ball duck in one of three dropped catches that spoiled Pakistan's day in the field.

Another fine day is forecast for Dunedin today.
