The New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori is crediting the crowd at Dunedin's University Oval as well as his seam bowlers for their dramatic 32-run win over Pakistan in the first Test.
The Black Caps took five wickets after tea to clinch the Test including the breakthrough wicket of debutant Umar Akmul, caught and bowled by man of the match Shane Bond for 75.
According to Vettori the difference was the bowling at the death of Bond and Iain O'Brien, who dislocated a finger but took two wickets.
Vettori cleaned up the last two wickets and he's also rapt with the efforts of the only other frontline bowler Chris Martin and the crowd.
He says it was exciting and the vocal support sounded more like 80,000 than whatever it was at the University Oval.
For the record there were just 2,200 fans packed into the small ground.
Bond took eight wickets in the match on his return to the Test arena after a two-year absence.
New Zealand lead the three-Test series 1-0 with the second Test starting at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on Thursday.
