New Jersey Nets NBA coach fired

The New Jersey Nets basketball team have fired coach Lawrence Frank after losing their first 16 games of the NBA season.

The Nets' losing streak marks one of the worst starts to the season in NBA history.

Frank was the longest-tenured coach in the Eastern Conference and had one of the best win-records in the Nets' NBA history.

This season marked his sixth as coach for New Jersey.

Assistant coach Tom Barrise will take over Frank's role when the team meet the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend. The Nets could tie the record for the worst start in an NBA season if they lose.
