Daly says golf needs Tiger to be OK

The colourful American golfer John Daly fears the game will suffer if Tiger Woods sustains any long-term damage from the mystery car crash outside his Florida home.

Daly's in Sydney preparing for this week's Australian Open and says Woods is the

biggest asset the tour's had in a long, long time.

Daly, a dual major winner, four-time divorcee and serial hell-raiser, managed to hide his bemusement at discussing someone else's private life - let alone Tiger Woods'.

He says he's just glad Woods is okay and can shed no light on the out-of-character episode.

Daly's also attracting attention because he's had his stomach stapled and is 50 kilograms lighter than angry hulk who smashed a spectator's camera on his way to missing the cut at Royal Sydney last year.
