Football agents earn over $150 million from English football clubs

English premier league football clubs have paid over $150 million in agents fees in the past year, with Manchester City accounting for almost one fifth of the bill.

The figures released by the league cover 803 transfers between October 2008 to September 2009.

With Manchester City rebuilding under its new Abu Dhabi owner, it paid around $25 million to agents to attract players such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez.

Chelsea paid $22 million followed by Liverpool with 415 million and Tottehnham with $14million.

Manchester United which won its third straight premier league title paid just under $3.5 million.
