The streak goes back more than 4 year for the two-time Olympic and four-time World champion.

Adams has an unassailable 16-point lead in the Diamond Race this year, but she isn't taking it for granted.

After having knee and ankle surgery late last year, and a nagging shoulder problem throughout 2014, the 29-year-old has described this as her toughest year yet.

She says this year has been very challenging for her mentally and physically and in all sorts of ways because of the injuries.

Germany's new European champion, Christina Schwanitz, and USA's Michelle Carter, will be trying to break the New Zealander's stranglehold over the event once again in Birmingham.

Angie Smit competes in the 800 in Birmingham.
