No criminal charges for Woods

6:51 pm on 2 December 2009

Tiger Woods will face no criminal charges for crashing outside his Florida mansion but the state's Highway Patrol has issued the world's top golfer with a careless driving citation.

The police say there is insufficient evidence for any more serious charges and with no claims of domestic violence involved their investigation into Friday's early morning crash is now closed

However speculation that Woods was in the vehicle to escape his wife Elin after they'd argued about a tabloid newspaper's claim he'd had an affair with a New York night club hostess is far from closed.

US magazine now says a 24-year-old Los Angeles waitress had a 31-month-long affair with Woods, beginning in April, 2007, and she has voice mails and more than 300 text messages as proof.
