Strong field for Heineken Open

Although there's no marquee singles player for January's Heineken tennis Open in Auckland the tournament's director Richard Palmer says s easily the strongest field.

with eight seeds ranked in the top 31 in the world and 11 players inside the top 40.

The top four seeds are all Spaniards with Tommy Robredo ranked at 16, David Ferrer at 18, former world Number one Juan Carlos Ferrero at 23 and Nicolas Almagro at 26.

The other four are last year's champion Philipp Kohlschreiber at 27, Austria's Jurgen Melzer at 28, regular visitor Juan Monaco of Argentina at 30, and Spain's Albert Montanes at 31.

And the world's best doubles duo, the American twins Bob and Mike Bryan, will be in Auckland for the first time aiming to add to their 114 titles including seven Grand Slam wins and seven finals finishes.
