Olympic challenge on Forbes's mind

6:34 pm on 6 December 2009

After a triumphant return to winning ways at the rugby Sevens world series opener in Dubai, the New Zealand sevens captain DJ Forbes is well aware the rest of the world is catching up.

The team's horror last season was put to rest with a 24-12 win over Samoa in the Dubai final but Forbes knows that now sevens will be an Olympic sport in 2016, New Zealand can't take anything for granted.

Forbes says for New Zealand to maintain their winning rugby reputation as established by the All Blacks will be difficult with other, richer countries now keen to chase Olympic gold in sevens.

The New Zealand sevens side didn't win a single title last season.
