World Cup worth 40 million to winners

FIFA have announced prize money details for next year's World Cup finals in South Africa which will be worth $40 million to the winng team and $33 million for the runners-up, while all participating countries will receive an extra $1.4 million to cover their preparation costs.

Every club who has a player at the tournament will receive $2200 a day, per player, starting from 15 days before the tournament kicks off.

FIFA's secretary general Jerome Valcke says total prize money available to the 32 finalists will be $580 million, a 61 percent increase on the pot for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
