The New Zealand men's basketball team has been beaten 98-71 in their latest match at the World Cup in Spain.

It is the Tall Blacks third straight loss.

The USA were up by 7 at quarter time, 22 at the half and while the Tall Blacks outscored the NBA stars by 1 in the third quarter, the top seeds drew away in the last.

Tom Abercrombie and Mika Vukona pulled down 5 rebounds each.

New Orleans Pelicans' power forward Anthony Davis top scored for the USA with 21.

Tall Blacks point guard Lindsay Tait says it is a dream for many players to come up against NBA players and the USA team, and while that was great, they did have one eye on their last two matches.

New Zealand must win their last two matches against Ukraine and Finland and hope some other results go their way if they're to make the next stage.
