1:58 pm on 8 December 2009

The world's biggest golf tour is venturing into Asia next year after a deal was struck between the PGA and Asian tours for a new event, the Asia Pacific Classic, with a field of only 40 playing for 8.4 million dollars.

The top 25 on the PGA tour's money list at the end of their regular season will automatically qualify, along with the top-10 money winners from the Asian tour.

The venue will be the Mines Resort in Kuala Lumpur, but a date for the late season tournament has't yet been set.
