Marion Jones medals to be reallocated this week

Olympic medals won by the US athlete Marion Jones at the Sydney Olympics will be reallocated this week, but her 100 metres gold will not be given to Greece's Katerina Thanou due to her own involvement in doping just before the Athens Games.

A senior IOC source says the Executive Board has decided to upgrade athletes in the 100 and 200 metres sprints and the long jump in which Jones won a bronze medal.

Jones was stripped of her medals in 2007 for using banned drugs, and she also served time in jail for lying to federal prosecutors.

An appeal by Jones's relay team mates, who were also stripped of their medals because of her doping, is still pending at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
