Taylor jumps eight places in ICC rankings

The New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has vaulted eight places in the latest International Cricket Council rankings to achieve a career-best ninth after scoring 30 and 97 in the second test loss to Pakistan in Wellington.

However, Australia's captain Ricky Ponting has dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since October 2002.

Ponting, who started in ninth , has slipped to 12th after scores of 36 and 20 in the drawn second test in Adelaide.

The injured Black Caps fast bowler Shane Bond is the eighth ranked bowler, five places ahead of the captain Dan Vettori, who 's the second-ranked allrounder behind Jacques Kallis of South Africa.
