Inter and Stuttgart through to Champions League knock-out

Inter Milan has beaten Rubin Kazan of Russia 2-nil to scrape through to the next round of Europe's Champions football league.

The Italian side needed to win this morning's match to guarantee their place in the top 16, finishing second in Group F behind Barcelona, who beat Dynamo Kiev of Ukraine 2-1.

Germany's Stuttgart scored 3 goals in the first 11 minutes of their final round robin to ensure a 3-1 win over Romanian champions Unirea Urziceni and leapfrog them on the Group G table to claim a spot in the Champions League knockout phase

Sevilla of Spain will go into the next round with a top seeding after beating Rangers 1-nil to finish top of that group, while Olympiakos joined Arsenal in the last 16 with a 1-nil victory over the English side.

Liverpool lost their last match of the Champions League 2-1 to Italy's Fiorentina who topped Group E, with second placed Lyon breezing into the top 16 with a 4-nil win over Hungary's Debrecen.
