FIA sets up women in motor sport commission

11:48 am on 12 December 2009

The world's greatest female rally driver, Michele Mouton of France, has been appointed president of a new commission for women in motor sport.

The International Automobile Federation says the commission will have 10 members as well as Mouton, who drove in the Rally of New Zealand in 1982, the year she finished second in the world championship.

The commission aims to increase the participation of women in all aspects of motor sport and promote education and training.
