After being asked to bat first, Hobart scored 178 for 3 with Aiden Blizzard scoring 62 and Shoaib Malik an unbeaten 45.

Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn and Ish Sodhi got a wicket each.

In reply, Ben Hilfenhaus wrecked the Knights top order as they fell to 5 for 3 and were then bowled out for 92 in the 17th over.

Scott Styris top scored with 37, while Hilfenhaus and Doug Bollinger took 3 wickets each.

Captain Daniel Flynn says its very disappointing, he felt their target was acheivable, but they lost early wickets and from there were never in the game.

Flynn says they'll take some lessons from the match, but they won't look too deeply into that performance.

The result means the Knights now have a win and a loss with their next match against the Kings Eleven Punjab on Saturday.

It also dents their net runrate with the top 2 teams from the 5-team group making the semi-finals.

The New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum has helped his Indian side, the Chennai Super Kings to a 54-run win over the South African side the Dolphins in the Champions League in India.

McCullum made 49 off 29 balls opening the innings for the Super Kings.

It's Chennai's first win at the tournament and moves them up to second in the standings.
