Central Districts openers set record

The Central Districts openers Peter Ingram and Jamie How have set a New Zealand record for the highest first class opening stand posting 428, as Central Districts beat Wellington by nine wickets in their Plunkett Shield match at the Basin Reserve.

Set 443 to win, Ingram finished unbeaten on 245 while How made 176.

They beat the record held Glenn Turner and Terry Jarvis who scored 387 in their opening stand for New Zealand against the West Indies in Georgetown in 1972.

Meanwhile Otago's beaten Auckland by five wickets with Neil Broom making 152 not out.
