The Hurricanes are losing lock Mark Reddish, hooker Ash Dixon and prop Brendon Edmonds to the Dunedin-based franchise, while Chiefs lock Josh Hohneck's also heading south.

They'll be joined at the Highlanders by Tasman prop Ross Geldenhuys, Bay of Plenty prop Pingi Tala'apitaga and Northland loose forward Dan Pryor.

Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph says one of the learnings that came out of last season was the pressure they got at set-piece time in the final stages of the competition, so they needed to strengthen the pack in 2015.
