Breakers face must-win match

5:59 pm on 17 December 2009

The New Zealand Breakers host Townsville tonight in a match which could a significant effect on the makeup of the top four in the Australian National Basketball league.

After consecutive home losses the fifth-placed Breakers won in Adelaide at the weekend to balance the win-loss ledger at 8-8 and they remain well in the playoff race.

But if the fourth-placed Crocodiles win, there'll be a wide gap between the top and bottom halves of the ladder for the first time this season.

The Crocs have won three of their last four matches but they've lost three times to the Breakers.

The Adelaide 36ers have broken a run of four losses and ended the Gold Coast's five game winnings streak with a 91-81 home win

The win helps Adelaide restore a 50 per cent win-loss ratio while the Gold Coast remains second with nine wins.
