Breakers beaten again

11:51 am on 19 December 2009

The New Zealand Breakers' up and down Australian National basketball League season has continued with their 87-80 loss to the Townsville Crocodiles on the North Shore.

The Breakers led by one at half-time, but the shots failed to sink in the second half and the visitors found themselves out to a nine-point lead.

And while the Breakers did close the gap, they couldn't get in front again.

Once again Rick Rickerts was outstanding for the Breakers with 21 points, but it was 2008 MVP Kirk Penney who again who did the most damage for the New Zealanders, claiming 24 points after dominating his area of the game.

The win keeps Townsville in the top four and extends the gap between it and the Breakers, who are fifth and now two wins behind the Crocs on the ladder.
