First test between England and South Africa a glowing advert for test cricket?

The England captain Andrew Strauss has described the first test draw against South Africa in Centurion as the perfect advertisement for test cricket.

The game had looked like heading towards a predictable draw when England went to the tea break on 169 for 3 but they collapsed late in the day losing five wickets in the last 15 overs.

Number 11 Graham Onions came in with 19 balls left and Smith brought back Makhaya Ntini for the last over to try and produce a fairy-tale finish to the bowlers 100th test.

However Onions kept him out to save the draw and Strauss says the test should remind the critics just how great a game test cricket can be.
