Controversial penalty gives Chelsea a draw

English football team Chelsea were lucky to score in their 1-all draw with West Ham, after midfielder Frank Lampard converted a controversial penalty to equalise early in the second half.

The home side were up 1-nil at half time, but Chelsea were awarded a penalty kick after West Ham's Matthew Upson was judged to have fouled an opposing player.

Frank Lampard says the referee's decision to give the penalty could have gone either way.

The draw puts Chelsea 4 points clear of Manchester United at the top of the English Premiership table.
