Aussies won't stop playing hard despite criticism

The Australian cricketers apparently have no plans to tone down their aggression ahead of the three test series against Pakistan, having refused to apologise for their run-ins with the West Indies.

Four Australians were disciplined during the West Indies series, including the all-rounder Shane Watson whose reaction to dismissing the West Indies captain Chris Gayle in the third test was likened to that of a four year old boy by the former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson.

Watson has claimed he was baited by Gayle in the leadup to that incident.

But the Australian captain Ricky Ponting has promised to bring his players into line before the Pakistan series, which starts in Melbourne on Boxing Day.

Ponting will have his injured elbow assessed today at training, and if he's ruled out Michael Clarke will lead the side.
