Seattle rallied to beat the Green Bay Packers in a stunning 28-22 overtime victory in Monday's NFC Championship game, while New England were far too strong for the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC final, the Patriots winning 45-7.
Seattle's spectacular overtime winner to beat Green Bay is already being hailed as one of the greatest post-season comebacks in American football history.
Quarterback Russell Wilson fired a 35-yard touchdown strike to Jermaine Kearse in overtime to give the Seahawks the stunning six-point comeback win over the Packers, after the champions had been down 19-7.
But they rallied to score 15 points in 44 seconds late in the fourth quarter, Wilson and Marshawn Lynch each powering their way into the end zone for touchdowns before a two-point conversion put Seattle ahead 22-19.
The drama was far from over, as the Packers' Mason Crosby booted his fifth field goal to send the game into overtime where Russell hit Kearse for the winning score as CenturyLink Field exploded in celebration.
