The framed bat, which includes a certificate of authenticity, is valued at around $8000.

Thieves also made off with a bat signed by former Australian captain Ricky Ponting and a framed Essendon football jumper.

The framed Ponting bat marked his first century at nearby Bellerive Oval.

Police have asked the public to report if they are offered cheap sporting memorabilia.
