Mackle, who debuted for the Tactix last year, has torn the meniscus in her right knee and will undergo surgery at the end of the week.

The 22-year-old midcourter was also recently selected into the Netball New Zealand Development Squad for 2015 and has played five ANZ Championship matches since signing for the Tactix at the beginning of last season.

She sustained the injury while training this week, ahead of the ANZ Championship pre-season tournament in Sydney at the beginning of February.

Netball Mainland CEO Brigit Hearn says losing Mackle before the season even begins is upsetting for the player and the entire squad.

Tactix development squad player Chloe Williamson has been promoted as a replacement player for the season.

The first Tactix home match of the 2015 ANZ Championship season is on March 2nd against the Northern Mystics.
