Reid, 26, the All Whites captain, has been looking for suitors to take him away from West Ham at the end of this English Premier League season when he comes off contract.

Arsenal and Liverpool had also been in the market for Reid's defensive skills but Spurs appear to have won out.

According to the Independent and Mirror the deal is all but done.

The Mirror said it would "enrage" West Ham fans after Reid had "snubbed" offers of a new contract at Upton Park.

"Reid is not able to sign a formal pre-contract with Spurs but sources close to the deal say it is done for the summer and West Ham are well aware of the situation," The Mirror reported.

Reid signed for West Ham in 2010 on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

He scored his first goal for the club on August 28, 2011 against Nottingham Forest.

In 2013 he signed a two-year extension about the same time he was named the club's "Hammer" of the year.

It is the last day for transfers in the Premier League, which traditionally sends the clubs and fans into a frenzy.
