Breakers lose thriller to Adelaide

A triple double from the import point guard Cedric Jackson wasn't enough to lift the Breakers to a win as they went down 93-88 to the Adelaide 36ers in their National Basketball League clash in Auckland.

Jackson had 11 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds, registering his third career triple double, but had a rough night from the field shooting at only 22 percent, while Corey Webster had 25 points including 10 in the fourth quarter.

The pair combined to help the Breakers back from a double digit deficit in the final five minutes, but they were unable to complete the come back in the dying seconds.

Adelaide remain the competition's form team after eight straight wins, while the loss severely dents the Breakers chances of chasing down the Cairns Taipans for the minor premiership, who have one more win with two games remaining.

They've now lost their last two games, and three of the last four.

The Breakers play the third-placed champion Perth Wildcats on Sunday.
