New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has won through two rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw at the lucrative Miami WTA event.

And the Aucklander's drawn to meet world number two Maria Sharapova in the second round, if she can get past Russian wildcard Daria Gavrilova in the opening round.

Gavrilova's just reached her highest-ever world ranking of number 97. Erakovic is currently ranked 76th.
In qualifying, Erakovic beat another Russian, Alexandra Panova, 6-3 6-2, then Spaniard Lourdes Domínguez Lino 6-2 7-6.
Erakovic is also competing in the doubles with world No.10-ranked German singles player Andrea Petkovic.
They'll face former No.1 Swiss Martina Hingis and India's Sania Mirza in the first round.
The Miamia Masters is a combined ATP men's and WTA women's event. On the women's side, the 10 top seeds are ranked inside the world's top 11.
