It has been confirmed that the Chiefs lock Michael Allardice ruptured his medial ligament in his left knee during Saturday night's controversial Super Rugby loss to the Hurricanes in Wellington.

He is expected to be out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

The recovery time for this type of injury is up to eight weeks.

The Hurricanes prop Reggie Goodes has been cited for alleged foul play after charging into Allardice during the match.
