Women's top seed Serena Williams played what she described as one of her worst ever performances but still managed to reach the third round of the French Open.

The world number one came back from a set down to beat unheralded German Anna-Lena Friedsam.
The 105th-ranked Friedsam gave the 19-times grand slam champion a torrid time and Williams admits she was far from her best.
The 33-year-old described her performance as almost unprofessional and says a win is a win and as long as you live to survive the next day, you can always improve.
She says she knows her level is literally a hundred times better than she played today.
Williams will will have to sharpen up considerably though against former world number one and two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka in the next round.
Azarenka, who has given Williams trouble in the past, is back in business after losing much of last year to a bout of depression and injuries.
There's another young Australian mens tennis player on the rise with Thanasi Kokkinakis grabbing today's headlines at Roland Garros by reaching the third round of a major championship for the first time.
The 19 year old wildcard came from 2-5 down in the deciding set, saving three match points against his better known countryman Bernard Tomic, to seal the match 8-6 against the 27th seed.
Kokkinakis will next meet the world number one Novak Djokovic in the third round.
Other winners today included Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Petra Kvitova.
However there have been a number of name players beaten, including John Isner, Tommy Robredo and Caroline Wozniacki.
New Zealand's involvement in the French Open is over with Artem Sitak beaten in the second round of doubles.
Sitak and his American partner Nicolas Monroe were beaten in 3 sets by the 8th seeds Bruno Soares of Brazil and Alexander Peya of Austria.
