Westpac Stadium rated lowly

Wellington's Westpac stadium, home of the Phoenix A-League side, has rated a lowly ninth in an 11-stadium survey of football players.

The survey carried out by the Professional Footballers Association asks visiting team captains to rate a stadium on five criteria, overall quality, hardness, pace, smoothness and atmosphere.

The points are given out of five.

Westpac stadium received 3.66 points for its overall rating.

Melbourne's AMMI Park, home to competition winners the Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City received top marks with 4.30 points.

Westpac was labelled the worst of the stadiums for atmosphere last year but three other stadiums, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Central Coast Stadium in Gosford and Hunter Stadium in Newcastle were all rated worse this time.

Westpac Stadium's best score was for pitch smoothness, being rated third.
