The Indian Cricket Board has suspended the owners of Indian Premier League teams, the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, for two years for their role in an illegal betting scandal dating back to 2013.

The board followed the recommendation of a panel appointed by the Indian Supreme Court to suspend Chennai official Gurunath Meiyappan and former Rajasthan co-owner Raj Kundra.
Meiyappan is the son-in-law of International Cricket Council chairman Narayanswamy Srinivasan.
The decision will impact New Zealanders involved in the IPL; Chennai coach Stephen Fleming and players Brendon McCullum and Matt Henry, and Tim Southee who plays for Rajasthan.
Their teams will be unable to compete in the IPL unless sold to new owners.
