The New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko says playing last week's Scottish Ladies Open at Dundonald was the ideal preparation for the British Open, which starts tonight.
Ko, 18, was among several top players who took the chance to hone their seaside skills before the year's fourth of five women's majors.

The style of golf required to succeed on Scotland's Ayrshire course, where the British Open is being held, is vastly different from that which usually suffices on the women's tours.
Ko said the decision to play the on a links course immediately before the British Open made sense and that it would be a dream come true to capture her first major title in Scotland.
She said she just needs to be a bit more consistent in the majors in order to have a better chance.
This week, Ko has another shot to snatch Morgan Pressel's title of youngest major champion and is making her fourth appearance at the Women's British Open.
She earned low amateur honors in 2012 (T17) and 2013 (T42) and finished tied for 29th last year at Royal Birkdale.
Ko is in one the early groups off tonight and she'll play alongside American Brittany Lincicome and Mika Miyazato of Japan.
The South Korean world number one Inbee Park will attempt to complete the fourth leg of a career grand slam this weekend.

Park has held the number one spot for seven weeks since overtaking Ko for the top spot after her win at the PGA Championship. Ko can reclaim the top spot if she wins and Park finishes 21st or worse.
