The Wallabies prop Scott Sio is taking plenty of advise from all sorts of people as he tries to lockdown a World Cup spot, but he said he listens mostly to his father.

Sio started for the first time in his seven-Test career last weekend when he contributed to a strong Wallabies scrummaging display in their win over the All Blacks.

Sio credited captain Stephen Moore and David Pocock for helping build his mental toughness, but said dad Tevita, who was a member of the 1991 Samoan World Cup squad , was always helping him out.

"He's done a lot for me, sacrificed a lot for me and my family so it was great to talk to him after the game and just to get another bit of feedback on how I'm going and how I'm progressing."

The Wallaby scrum was impressive in their win on Saturday night in Sydney and Sio is hoping that continues.

"We had some good scrums on the weekend but we had some scrums where we really need to improve as well so I think that's something we're just going to keep searching for and keep building on as the week goes on."

Australia have won the last five Tests in which Sio has played.
