The Canterbury shot putter Tom Walsh has broken the national record in winning at an IAAF Challenge meet in Zagreb, Croatia.

Walsh has thrown 21 point 62 metres to better his previous record of 21 point 58 metres set in finishing 4th at the World Championships in Beijing last month.
In defending his Zagreb title, Walsh has managed to win 3 events in 4 days in Europe.
The Challenge series is a step below the Diamond League series.
Walsh will continue his busy schedule by competing in the Diamond League final in Brussels later this week.
