Van Dyk to box in Fight for Life

The former Silver Ferns netballer Irene Van Dyk will step into the boxing ring for December's Fight for Life charity event in Hamilton.

No opponent has yet been confirmed for the 43-year-old, 1.9 metre shooter.

The most capped international netballer of all time, Van Dyk played 72 times for South Africa before moving to New Zealand and making 145 appearances for her adopted country.

She spent 14 years playing for the Silver Ferns.

She won two Commonwealth Games gold medals with New Zealand, before stepping away from the international game in 2014.

Van Dyk also won a World Championship title with the Silver Ferns in 2003.
