The Sharks ran in four tries to two on their way to victory with Michael Gordon kicking all four conversions as well as two penalties.

A late consolation try to Rabbitohs prop Chris Grevsmuhl was the only saving grace for last year's premiership winners who were on the back foot for the majority of the game.

Michael Ennis played a starring role in two of the Sharks tries at Allianz Stadium, and they move to the second semi-final against North Queensland in Townsville on Saturday night.

But they might have to do without Ennis who was put on report for a high tackle late in the second half, and he might also have to answer for a high shot on Souths halfback Adam Reynolds in the first half.
