Lee finished in a tie for second at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, picking up $970,000.

The 25-year-old fired a final round five under par 65, one of the best rounds of the day, to finish in a tie with Justin Rose of England and Henrik Stenson of Sweden.

They were four shots behind the winner, the American Jordan Spieth.

He adds another $860,000 for finishing ninth in the Fedex Cup standings, and ends the Australian Jason Day's stint as world No.1 after just one week.

Lee takes his earnings this season to $7,000,000.

He scored his maiden victory this year in the Greenbrier Classic in July.

Meanwhile Spieth capped a brilliant season with victory that also won him the FedExCup playoffs title for an $18,000,000 pay day.

He won five times this year including the Masters and US Open.

The prize money haul included the $15,700,000 jackpot bonus for winning the season's FedExCup points competition and virtually clinched him Player of the Year honours.

Spieth ends the year with $34,000,000 in earnings, the most lucrative season in PGA Tour history.
