Wellington have kept the pressure on leaders Hawke's Bay in the provincial rugby Championship with a 31-13 away victory over Bay of Plenty at Mount Maunganui.
Wellington had to win to keep the race for rights to host a home final alive going into the final round, after Hawke's Bay ended Southland's semi-final hopes with a 35-28 win in wet and windy Invercargill.
That meant the last semi spot went to Bay of Plenty.
Hawke's Bay are three points ahead of Wellington on the table. The Magpies welcome Waikato in their final Ranfurly Shield defence this season on Friday, while the Lions host neighbours Manawatu on Saturday.
Bay of Plenty travel to Dunedin to play Otago in the last round robin game on Sunday. Southland's season ends on Saturday against Canterbury in Christchurch.
