The 17-time Grand Slam tennis champion Roger Federer has crashed out to the little-known Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in a major second-round shock at the Shanghai Masters.

Federer, the world number three and defending champion, was sent packing 7-6 2-6 6-3 by the Spanish world No.70, who has yet to claim his first career title, and has only won three matches in total at Grand Slam tournaments.
The Swiss looked rusty on his return to action after a month off, and Ramos-Vinolas was rewarded for his fearless approach.
Federer said it was a tough day at the office for the 34-year-old.
"I guess at the end of the day I wasn't good enough sort of in the longer rallies because I was playing well on my serve.
"My one-two punch was working, I just think the first round here in China has always been historically difficult, getting used to the conditions and the surface and the balls, the balls we play are very different from other places. Last year I got lucky, this year I didn't so it's a pity."
He'll play Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in round three.
The top seed Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray play their opening matches overnight.
