Black Caps play in Plunket Shield today

The majority of the New Zealand Test cricket side will play for their respective associations as the Plunket Shield gets underway today.

Captain Brendon McCullum is the only member of the Test squad that won't be involved in the opening round.

The Northern Knights will have Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner and BJ Watling for their game against Wellington in Hamilton, the visitors have Luke Ronchi in their lineup.

Champions Canterbury will have Tom Latham opening the innings against Martin Guptill's Auckland at Eden Park.

Jimmy Neesham, Mark Craig and Hamish Rutherford will play for Otago in Napier with Central Districts having the services of Ross Taylor and Doug Bracewell.

The Black Caps are preparing for the Test series in Australia later this month.
