The Wellington Phoenix defender Ben Sigmund is annoyed that no disciplinary action was taken against the player that clashed with him and left him concussed.

Sigmund collapsed early in the second half of the 2-1 loss to Western Sydney 10 days ago following an elbow from Federico Piovaccari.

The Phoenix asked the A-League to look at the incident, but no punishment was issued.

Sigmund, who returned to training today, is frustrated by the lack of action.

"If it was me or or Manny (Muscat) or Durro (Andrew Durante) we probably would have got three weeks for that and for them to not even give a foul or anything, I just can't understand it," Sigmund said.

"They (the A-League) had a great opportunity to make an example on someone that's thrown an elbow and badly hurt someone and its just been side-swipped."

A decision on Sigmund's availablility for this weekend's clash with Melbourne Victory in Auckland will be made later this week.

Sigmund feels he's over his concussion and the Giardia he's suffered from for a while.

The Phoenix will wait and see how he scrubs up after his first training run back before making a decision on his availability, but Sigmund is confident.

"Last week was a real tough week trying to get the energy levels up and eating properly, I've had a concussion test and passed that with flying colours, so in terms of medically I've been given the green light."

"Whether Eanie is ready to put me out there yet, that's his call, I've just got to keep building in training and by Saturday I should be as good as gold."

The possible return of Ben Sigmund is likely to be the only change from the side that drew nil-all with Sydney FC.
