Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill were both marquee players and were picked up in the second round for $195,000.

Guptill will play for the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the fourth straight year, while McCullum is at the Trinbago Knight Riders which also includes Colin Munro and Anton Devcich.

"Even from the very first CPL it was an extremely exciting atmosphere and to be out there in the middle and witness the crowd having a great big party is pretty special to watch and it's something I've really enjoyed being involved with," Guptill said.

McCullum said "it's really special to be playing in the Caribbean; the fan engagement and carnival atmosphere is something I've heard a lot from a lot of players around the world. My favourite memories of playing in the West Indies are in touring around some of the boutique grounds I've been involved in."

There are six teams in the CPL, which starts in July.
