The 25-year-old, who finished in second last year, has gone one better this year in the 243kilometers multisport race which starts in Kumara on the West Coast and finishes at New Brighton Beach in Christchurch.

Clark completed the race in just over 11 hours and 37 minutes.

Meanwhile Elina Ussher has won the women's elite one-day Coast to Coast.

The 39-year-old from Nelson has now claimed the "longest day in the world title" for the third time.

It was a tight finish for Ussher, she finished just over five minutes ahead of Myriam Guillot-Boisset from France.
